Re: CCTV Control
Only restrictions were an agreement beforehand that individuals who were on camera would not be recognisable. The Highways Agency also had a look at my stuff to see it was a serious project rather than an attempt to make them look like the 'Ministry of Social Control'.Originally posted by Stephen View PostA little treat for you there David, I would have loved to have been there myself. Were you restricted to where you could stand or what you could photograph?
I've found when trying to get access, it's best to approach via the Press Office rather than the people who run the control room. Often this is contracted out to private security firms (though not in the case of these control rooms).
I'm also trying to move the project on to cover the use of cctv in domestic settings (now the technology is getting cheaper, they're appearing next to burglar alarms and security lights) and shops.

Re: CCTV Control
Oh wow! This particular project of yours just keps on getting better and better! truly superb stuff right right from original idea to what you've achieved so far.

We have one of those 'domestic' CCTV' gizmos but it's not especially fancy - just a B/W screen on the indoor handset. It's just a sort of camera entry phone contraption that transmits a video of whoever is ringing the doorbell. It can also be positioned so we could see who was coming along the driveway. We don't use the door entry buttons though - we just fancied the idea of seeing the expression on the faces of cold callers when they get told to get lost. I'm still waiting for David to get it fully installed though.

Talking of the domestic cctv – I suppose this makes a change from stone lions ;-)
You know perfectly well that our covert 'spy cameras' are hidden inside the stone lions on the gate posts.
David's latest gizmo will be on the front door so we can 'shoot' any hapless oik who manages to get past the lions. So be warned. Don't try streaking down our driveway (as Stephen once did).

I love your idea of working at 'projects. I have a couple on the go myself, though mine are very slow to grow and I won't be exhibiting them, as you sometimes do. I just do them for my own satisfaction. I have the images printed and added to dedicated folder. Just my own method of self motivation and developing new ways of looking at things.
