  • Tower of Power

Maybe the rise in price of power that is iminent is a sign from him upstairs that we should all do our bit for the planet and our young one's future's!
Some say these thing's are ugly, I actually like them. Untill you have been and stood next to one and experienced the elegance it exumes as it whirs around then dont say there crap! And if you do think there crap you better have a good alternative
There are far more ugly things like power stations and a hole in the ozone to fry us all to death!
Did anyone see 'Burn Up' on tv? I no, just a thing on tv, but it could happen!
Any views? Although dont expect a response if I dont agree
Also please post any other renewable planet freindly pics you may have.
    thanks for reading
    Ash.

    Re: Tower of Power

firstly great shot Ash, love the dramatic angle, seeing a bit of movement in the vanes would have been a bonus.

I too love these, and would like to see more of them. EDF have just pulled the plug (see what I did there) on backing nuclear energy, which is a great shame.

I have to say though, that although I am great lover of wildlife, and I too would like to see a cleaner planet, its not the small consumers such as you and I that are doing the most damage.

The figures paint an interesting story, and one of which has been my argument for a few years. The fact is that although CO2 emmissions have dropped according to statistics...... this actually excludes plane travel, and shipments by sea. With these included, the figure has actually risen by 13%!

So, if you want to make a difference, I say drive what car you like, but try to buy food stuffs, products as much as you can from your own country. Also, cut down on flying, as that makes the biggest difference of all, especially in the long term.

Also, it is interesting to note, that many car makers claim to be green, but when the birth to death of a car is taken into account, it again becomes a different story. In the long run, the Toyota Prius, is actually less green than a Hummer!

Here endeth my little peice on saving the planet!

      Re: Tower of Power

      Hi Ash -

We were visiting various coastal spots along the Kent coast today and spotted a wind farm out to sea at Tankerton.

I hope it fits your theme.

      . . .

          Re: Tower of Power

Yeah Ben not a bad shot, an nd8 filter would have done the trick to get a slower shutter speed to get the movement as you say, but as I did not have one a nice crisp 'still' was the alternative. As for the other waffle, knowing everything about everything are the quality's that should run for Prime minister or at least a pollititian!

              Re: Tower of Power

I wanted a pic for a 'Fujimugs Challenge' some time back and the company RES kindly allowed me some time photographing on site here in the UK. Bottom left of the pic is a bank of solar panels which also provide power to the RES HQ.

I have used this shot elsewhere and it may be familiar to some here.
