Like I said I have not post anything of late. Not that I have not been looking in every day. I hope these few will make up for that. It was such a nice day today far to good to do anything inside.
Hi Pete, me too have not been on for ages or contributed, sorry everybody
Must try harder
The first shot although has great composition, it just does not quite have the sharpness to make it a great shot.
Second shot dont really like.
Third is very sharp and shows that your equipment is perfectly capable.
So this means probably a focusing issue, I have not looked at the exif data but its obviously a bright day, so there should not be any probs with shutter speed.
The sharpness of the 3rd on the 1st would be cool.

cheers
Ash.
Thanks for the feed back Ash. Yes it was a bright day yesterday so shutter speed should have been ok. I just have not been out anywhere near the amount I should have with the camera. So its just a case of the loose nut behind the wheel. I am off in a few weeks time and have planed to more ore less have the camera glued to me. Have loads of stuff I have do do for camera club before the winter sets in.

Focus itself looks fine, its just where the focus is that is the problem.
Looks like you have focused on the hairs on its back, rather than the eye.
I would gues you used a really wide aperture as well, so it might be worth considering narrowing the aperture to get a better DoF.

What was the exif out of interest Peter?
Taken in av mode f9 shutter speed 1/320 iso 400. These little do do sit still for long as you will know so to try and focus on the eyes was not that easy but will give it another go maybe later today.
I think I will be bug hunting a fair bit over the next few weeks. The two I would like to have photos of are ants and wasps. Will have to see want I can find ?
