  • Morning At The Canal

I spent some time this morning in the summer sun trying to improve on my settings/skill with movement. Unfortunately the strength of the sun got the better of me but at least I managed to fire off about seventy shots.
The first of the young men fishing is with the Fuji F100fd - an OKish unit and not much more. The remainder with my very useful Olympus E-510 - highly recommended along with the excellent 40-150 and 70-300 Zuiko lenses.

    Boats Entering Locks

Can you see me mum only there's a bloke up there with a bigma - I think I might be on TV.

I have a love affair with this heron - it has helped Anne and I have its picture in the local paper and shown on a website or two. This morning I was hoping to catch it feeding but it became unsettled with an approaching dog and I was totally unprepared to capture it in flight - as you will see below.

And there he/she remained as visitor numbers increased with walkers, cyclists and dogs etc.

    Out Take 2

As you see from the last two - still learning but getting there.

I hope to see some comments please.

A lovely series Barry - two of my favourite subjects, so I'm right with you there

Particularly impressed with "Heron preening" - I have got one like that, but nowhere near as clear

      Thanks Caz -

We were down on the canal towpath in another area today and our walk in the high temperatures were not rewarding for the effort.

The pix above are almost typical snap shots but I was most pleased with the preening one. I was able to stand on a bridge almost parallel with the heron.
