Just a couple of shots taken with my new Canon G9 whilst on a recent trip to Switzerland. The first is fairly self explanatory, the grave of David Niven who lived and was buried in the village we were staying at. It was on one of the better days of our week there and it just occurred to me that one couldn't really wish for a better place in the world to be buried. The photo has simply had its mid tone contrast tweaked a little

The second shot was taken to test the macro function of the camera. We had gone up on one of the local ski lifts. There was a patch of crocuses giving a great display on an area which obviously had not long since been covered in snow. Anyway I put the camera onto macro and held it low down just above the grass and hoped that it focused on the flowers. Taken at f5.6, which is probably nearer f11 on an SLR. I felt it coped pretty well, the flowers are sharp and the out of focus background is nicely graduated and smooth. You can see the weather conditions were not great, but I have not altered the contrast, just a very subtle tweak to the saturation (+3) Exposure was -2/3EV
