Is the street in the picture flat or do you see a series of channels and humps.? We have just returned form a holiday spent in Portugal, on the coast not far from Lisbon . There the trend seem to be to pave the pedestrian shopping areas with mosaics consisting of large black and white stones laid in patterns and I was struck by the optical illusions that they created.
Super shot! I see the channels and humps more easily than flat and I'd probably fall over if I were walking along there.
There's a supermarket in a nearby town that has (or had) a floor that confuses me and makes my head spin. It consists of small black and white mosaic and I have to cling to the trolley and do my utmost not to look down in there. I stopped going there purely because of the wretched floor design.
What a brilliant picture, the optical illusion looks very convincing, looking at the people in the centre of the picture it looks as though their feet are at different height from each other. (makes your eyes go funny if you look at it for some time, perhaps its easier to walk on than look at!)
Mowgli
What a super find. The sides of the street in shadow keep full attention on the 'illusion' too .... very queasy making. Mowgli is right, the people's feet look as though they are lifting with the 'bumps'.
Thanks to everyone who took time to add a comment. Everyone found the same - one can hardly believe ones eyes and accept that the street actually was flat.
