  • Day trip to Oxford

    Dear All,

Bar a few family snaps, my last "proper", creative use of my Camera was November last year and my day in London. (See here http://www.pbase.com/joshbear/november&page=all).

My mum's brain tumour returned and most of my free time at the end of last year and the beginning of this was spent travelling between Berkshire and Manchester. She lost her battle a few weeks ago and at the age of 37 I have lost someone who gave me alot of encouragement with my photography. Anyway I felt it was time to put some effort into my hobby that she enjoyed seeing the results of so much.

I decided on a trip to Oxford. No matter what pictures I go on to take I hope I will remember this gallery as the one that got me going again.

The full gallery has been uploaded to my DPnow section Here

    and to Pbase - here.

But here are a few anyway.

    Best Regards

    Josh

    Re: Day trip to Oxford

First of all Josh, my sympathies are with you. It's now 21 months since I lost my mother to an inoperable brain tumour.

A beautiful set of images: I particularly liked the selective colour flowers in the bicycle basket, and also one from your pbase gallery of the closeup of the colourful bike with the rusty chain.

Josh, very sorry to hear about your mother. However it seems you have had some inspiration as a result and this is being channeled into your photography. I'm sure she would be pleased. IMHO there is some of your best work amongst these images and in your gallery. Will look forward to seeing more from a revitalised Josh

          Hi Josh

What can I say that has not been said above. In the last 14 years I have lost both parents and now only at the age of 40 it feels at times that I have missed so much time with them especially as my mother only saw my 2 boys for a few years. I know people will say that it will get easier as time goes on and thats not always what you want to hear but in some ways it is true.

Now thats enough about me this is about you and your photos. I have always enjoyed looking at your photos. They just make me see things in a different light. I love the one with the broken bottle and also the one with the yellow lines. I know some people say that sort of thing is old hat but if it is done well as you have done here and picked a subject that will carry it off it can be great. I have only looked at the ones on here but once I have posted this I will have a look at the others.

                Thanks All,

Words cannot express what your comments have meant to me. Very much appreciated.

Will keep snapping away and improving! I have already noticed some sensor dust I missed and a tree branch that needs cloning out.

                Best Regards
