  • Creative Presentation

As its been raining all day today (Saturday), I've spent a heap of time teaching myself some presentational skill with Adobe layers & masks & thing, which I've not tried much before! As I actually posted the same photo before adding the creative presentation to the Fortnightly competition, I have not posted this here for critique, but I was amazed at how creative presentation can enhance a photo! It may not be to everyone's taste......but it sure looks ok to me on my screensaver! I had fun in the process!

You are so right about the importance of presentation Jocelyn.
A good border or frame can really enhance a photo. Why I've even persuaded Ian to add a border to some of his shots This ones a little heavy for my taste and overpowers it IMO However the process of learning how to do these things is invaluable

Thanks Stephen for your input! Yes, you are right, it is a bit heavy & possibly a lighter colour border with not quite as much extra canvas added would have been better! The process of learning has been great for me though, as its given me a sense of achievement in a way, as I just could not get it to work to begin with! I really wish I could learn a trick or two from Trevor as his borders & presentation are really refined!

Thanks Dave! The colours are what drew me to the pic to rework it in the first place! I found that by working with the layer masks, these colours seemed to be enhanced! The original on my computer being a little duller, with less saturation! By using the soft light in layers palette, it enhanced the overall appearance a tad!

What a difference a frame can make for sure. I quite like the dark frame, gives a real sense of looking through to the scene, as though through a hide. I like the darkness but perhaps it is just a little too wide. I think the dark frame heightens the contrast in the photograph. I agree about ddigit's frames - they always add to his photography. It is good that we all learn from each other ... I sometimes find that I learn something, only to forget all about it, and then come to it 'all new' some time down the line.
