Now there's a sight for sore eyes! I remember a time when my sister and I were assigned the task of turning the handle of one of those as my grandmother hauled sodden wet heavy sheets from her tub up and through a similar mangle.

My mother inherited the 'mangle' and also assigned the handle turning to us but not for long! She soon dumped it and got her first washing machine a sort of tub thing with a manual 'agitator' hadle on top. Glad to report she 'turned' the agitator handle of that one herself.
