  • Pair of Buzzards ?

    Evening all,
Haven't been here for ages !!

    How is everyone ?

Just thought I'd try out your knowledge .....

Been out around the quiet lanes this afternoon, and lokked up to see a pair of these slowly 'riding the thermals'. Having not seen one (or two) of these before, I'm not sure what they were ..... Buzzards is my guess ... anyone ?

Sorry their a bit 'noisy' but these guys were very high, and I was at the limit of my 400mm !!

    Any ideas anyone ?

Not sure, but talking of birds of prey, I saw a guy with a harris hawk today who kindly let me ttake some snaps - not too great as I'm not that good at people pictures, and then also saw four other birds but I dunno what they were, they had orange(maybe bronze) white and black markings under their wings

One of the best places I've been to was the 'La Bourbonaise' (I think that's what it was called) ... a small zoo just outside St Malo. Fantastic Birds of Prey show .... Falcons, Owls, an Eagle .... brilliant, and you can get right up to them as well. Plus all the other usual animals .... great for the kids as well.

I'll post up a couple of snaps

Hi, I can't comment on the type of bird, your probably right with buzzard! Ben/coupekid may be able to help you with that.
As for the pics themselves I cant really comment too much on them either as the exif data seem's to have been lost somewhere along the way, there is alot of noise, and that would not be due to you being at the long end of your 400 milly, more likely high iso or a heavily cropped and oversharpened picture, with you trying to get some detail in there.
Some of your camera settings and how much you cropped and sharpened would make things clear.
        cheers
        Ash.

There's obviously a fair bit of noise, but yep, I'm pretty sure they're buzzards
