    Hello All

I took this picture a few weeks ago on the outing my 6yr old & I had. Now technically i know its far from perfect. there is a slight motion blur so it took some work to fix.Apart from the imperfections I personally Like the picture. Kimberly could not wait to throw two stones into the calm water so she could watch the ripples stretch across the water. What she did not expect was the splash that the second stone made. I got really lucky when I got the reaction right at the moment it happened! My Only Question is the frame too heavy for the picture?

    YES.
It's a super shot, Autumn colours, reflections and a cute point of interest in the foreground but....that frame is way to broad. I do like the inner frame colour. It's nicely matched with the Autumn colours

I agree with Pops to a point. I like the frame but not the large title. I see this with a smaller title bottom right mounted in a nice wooden frame hanging on the wall. All my pictures, including some created by my wife, are mounted in frames with plenty of space around them. That's how I visualise this one.

I like the frame, with the child like writing, i think it matches the fun of the photograph beautifully. I see this as a fun shot, not a serious one with 'grown up' frame.

What a super and charming photograph, captures the moment perfectly, Frames are very much a matter of choice and personal taste, I would not use a heavy frame now but used to in the past, I think this frame and image works though. You should really mount and hang this image in your home, IMO.

I agree with lumix with respect to his comments about the frame. It gives the impression that as if I were watching a photo on the wall.

I was thinking more about the title - Which is intended to mean? Disturbance to the people nearby or disturbance to herself (your daughter)? - as the splash must have been a fresh (and joyful?) surprise to her. A disturbance to her otherwise peaceful mind while playing with stones.
Her body reaction describes it quite cutely.

Could be of course the both but IMHO if the first disturbance is meant here, this pic becomes an accusation photo taken by say some other people and not by mother or intimate people. In this sense I am gradually inclined to think it meant more the second one.

              Probably neither Yoshi!

You have a nice tranquil waterscape, and she has thrown a stone in to distrub it!

Hi Ben, yeah that illustrates what happened (fact) and in my interpretation who thinks it disturbing is the next question to be thought about.

In (maybe) Asiatic sense everything has a spirit - mountains, rivers, stones ...

If you follow this route of interpretation of the mother nature, then the very fact (disturbance on the tranquil waterscape) means a lot. The "fact" itself is the disturbance as you pointed out.
But Ben, I somehow think I'm a bit more westernized in the past few days suddenly, and want to think as I described earlier. Of course, I will not stop you to be more orientalism thinker in turn. Our society will also welcome you.

p.s. pity I do not get even a so so good animal pics these days - I did try but in vain.

                  Yoshi,

The water had been so calm that day the surface was like a mirror. My daughter had been begging me to throw a stone in so she could watch ripples to see how far they would go. the splash and her reaction were both quite surprising. Yes Ben was exactly right in his explanation of the scene.

Yoshi, I am afraid my imagination isnt nearly good enough to be an Asiatic thinker!

Over here, people would describe people like myself as 'shallow'

But what you describe does fascinate me. All the spirits and energy of water, I think you are referring to things like 'Chi' arent you?

Hi Jennifer, thanks for this additional explanation that helped me more. I think now I can understand the situation better. I thought it was your daughter and not you who threw a stone in.
The water surface looks really like a mirror. Impressive.

Ben, I tried and searched about it in order to answer the question. Does the 'Chi' mean 'intelligence' in Japanese? - Apparently you look like a Zen thinker!

I think 'chi' is energy & probably the basis of Feng Shui, & correct me if I'm wrong, connected to Zen philosophy! It's The Natural Energy of the Universe!

Lovely photograph, full of youthful innocence. A perfect world? I can understand that it caught a moment in time for you, and now having it on disc you will come back to it time and time again. A most attractive setting too - nature at her best.

                              Hi Jocelyn
Many thanks for your good advice. After reading this I understand Ben used a Chinese word that means exactly what you said. ( FYI we pronounce it "ki" in Japanese.)

Hi Ben, so you are right again. Everything has "Chi" or breath or spirit - a traditional philosophy school says so. If we can reveal "Chi" of whatever subjects then it must be a superb pic. Jennifer's daughter showed it by her cute body action, I think. and of course, the tranquil water - through the splash, maybe.
