  • Not sure what to call this one!

Hi. Took this a few days ago.

I noticed the thin spiders web going along the top and focused on the fence to get it sharp.

In the background was an interesting shape to the tree with bark winding around it.

I wasn't sure if getting the background in sharp too would work so I kept it focused on the fence itself.

Just thought I would post it as it a little different to what I usually take!

I love this picture and I think you were absolutely right to keep the rails and web in focus but with the background blurred. The colours and the shapes of the background are wonderful and they work very well as a backdrop to your main subject imho.

The image is reminiscent and along the same sort of lines as some recent work from one of my favourite potographers, John Washington. He posted some fine examples of this sort of style very recently. You can see some examples in his October archives HERE.

It was his work that inspired my effort (Acer in Autumn) for the Autumn assigment thread actually (his Hell's Forest" image). My own effort isn't in the same leagues as his though.

    He used a Noctilux on M8 Leica for his - I used a Pentax K10D + 50mm f/2.8 for mine. That's my excuse anyway.

Hi, It is different, and you did well to keep the web fibre sharp and obvious.

Good exposure and an attractive mottled background. I don't half want to pick that paint off the 3rd rail from the left.

I think you were very clever to get the spider's web to be seen. I don't particularly like the image, but I do appreciate your skill.
