This afternoon Julia and I survived a ride on Thorpe Park's Stealth, Europe's tallest and fastest roller coaster, at 205 feet high and with an initial acceleration of 0-80 mph in just over 2 seconds. And we did Nemesis and Colossus too!
When we went there recently even my daughter's boyfriend, a regular theme park extreme ride junkie, gave that one a miss! Needless to say, so did I ..as did my son, daughter and 'er indoors. Yellowis our favourite colour .
Well done to the two of you. Its not my thing I have to say. I like my speed on the tv.
A few years ago, I'd have been you, but I seem to have grown out of my reluctance. The main reasons I didn't originally like doing roller coasters were a) safety (the ride has to look well built for me to consider it - I wouldn't go on a travelling funfair scary ride) and b) I used to think they'd make me feel sick afterwards; but a chance encounter with a funfair during Oktoberfest in Munich a few years ago, and desensitised by the excellent local beer, proved to me that I'd be fine (even with the beer inside me, if you get my drift!).
I found it was peer group pressure that got me doing them a few years ago when in Florida. I was on everyone after that The theme parks in Orlando are just brilliant.
