  • Shoreham Airshow

Hi all. Tried out the 75-300 Canon lens today at the airshow with my 400D. First time at anything like this with a nice camera and lens.

Some pictures the props were 'still'. Couldn't get them blurred and the sky, shooting with cloud and sun was hard, the sky looks well washed out but I don't know what to do to counter that.

Can anyone give me any advice for this kind of thing please? Thanks.

    A few pics from today.

Well it seems to me that for a first attempt you have not made a bad effort. There are plenty of shots where the aircraft fill up the majority of the frame, which is important. The lens has given you over 9x magnification and sharp results. The exposures are a bit out on a lot of them and as you say you have frozen the props which is not ideal.

Looking at the EXIF data of the 2nd & 3rd I see you have the camera set at ISO 1600 which seems to be the problem. Its giving you shutter speeds that are way too fast. You need to take control of the camera and understand how to use the settings so as to give you a good result. If all else fails READ the MANUAL

      Hi,

great show isn't it. Have been before and was there yesterday. Was really sad to see that Hurricane go down. My thoughts go to the pilots family.
