This guy was performing high up in the trees today, so had to get a few shots. What do you think of the zoom power. All hand held. First shot to show how far away he was.
That's a pretty good range Ron - which camera did you use? not the FZ20 surely?
I've got some pictures somewhere of a fir tree that I got our neighbour to agree to coming down - it was 46' high and was hanging 12' over my garden fence at the base! It was interesting to watch it come down, bit at a time, starting with the top. Took all afternoon but there was no damage to my fence which was actually touching the trunk! The "tree surgeons" obviously knew what they were doing - looked pretty dangerous work though, not my cup of tea that's for sure!
wow!
thats really impressive! are the shots cropped at all, or straight out of the cam?
what lens is this then Ron?
Also, what on earth is the UFO on the top left of the first shot?
It's the lens that is fixed to the FZ20. I don't have the option to select lenses as it's just a point and shoot camera. Images are as out of camera but sharpened in Picasa. The UFO? who knows. Could be a passing bird.
Exif data in my gallery.

Good examples, good series.
You get good results and value for yer money with that camera.

Just now and then I think of upgrading but then what more do I want. I have looked closely at your camera Pol and would be tempted if I see one at a price I can afford. The only other camera that interest me enough to remortgage is the new Panasonic L10.

I haven't looked very closely at the new L10 but it looks as though it might be slightly smaller and lighter than my K10D. The K10D certainly isn't too bulky or heavy - but size and weight could be worth comparing and seriously considering if you're likely to be doing much walking and carrying.
The new Panny looks as though it might be similar in size/weight to the Oly range........ though I'm only going by the pictures.
