  • First there were two....

I've been seeing the local hares again lately, but haven't managed to get the camera out in time. This time, it's usually on the way to work so they're on the wrong side of the car for photography

This morning, for the third time in a week, there were two sitting in the stubble in front of the corn. Unfortunately, didn't manage to get them together - the first one just legged it for the stubble, and I got a rather unclear rear view:

The second one stopped and posed for me at the edge of the corn - just long enough to get one shot, before turning and strolling into the corn.

They would be virtually invisible once inside the corn

Yay - well done You've managed to train a Hare to sit and pose!

That second shot is especially good.

They were! Couldn't hang around to see if they'd come out again... was on the way to work and was running late anyway!

Nice one Caz. I like the second one best. I noticed it in your gallery. The hare is well positioned and the background so fitting. A very natural photograph.

Got lucky this morning... although someone was parked in my usual space (the highest point round here, so you can get a mobile signal!)

Managed to get two shots this morning, but the first was pretty useless (digital zoom, yuk ) but managed to creep forward and get this one: the quality isn't great, but now I appear to have TWO posing!

Caz - I truly believe that you have posted some inspirational shots in this thread. I ought to point out that Caz doesn't use an expensive DSLR and long lens and I'd challenge most of us to get results like this even with pro equipment. It just goes to show that it's the photographer and not the hardware that ultimately counts!

I'll second that! They're amazing shots, excellent stuff, Caz!

I sometimes see them in the fields but have never yet managed to get any shots.

They are really good Caz - I like the "poser" one best and the background is great too. Haven't they got enormous eyes!

There's a lot to be said for these stand and point cameras. I have kept mine and often get better quality shots with it and its far lighter to carry around too. I think they offer better opportunities (for the likes of me anyway) when photographing people (or animals) because I find by the time I have fiddled around with the controls on my dslr its too late and I have missed the shot and also they not quite as conspicuous so you are less likely to be noticed or frighten your subject away.
