Shoot the starlings

Hi,
Why wont they keep still? try to present them in a good light and they still wont cooperate Starling everywhere, took about 20 shots and this poor effort is the only nearly presentable shot, Early morning light waiting for breakfast, prevented me from useing faster shutter speeds, oh well wait for better conditions I suppose.

I know how you feel Tinka, I have been trying to get a decent picture of these fella`s for ages. They only come in the garden now and again

The Greenfinch rarely stay still long enough for a clean shot. I would have been pleased with this one though.

Thanks Pops, I consider that praise indeed if you would be happy with this. I just look on in envy at all the "birdie" shots you post up. These birds are easily frightened it seems, the slightest noise and they are gone, the pigeons on the ground eating just look up at me and carry on eating, all the sparrows come back after a minute or so and I am left waiting for the greenfinches but they stay away. I think the colours make it difficult for the autofocus to lock on, which is why I end up with so many out of focus shots whe I fanally do track em down. What do you think?

They are indeed one of the more timid type. I don't think their colouring makes focusing any more difficult. Most of the surrounding foilage is very similar. I just put it down to them being nervous when they are on an exposed feeder. They seem to be forever looking around for danger.
