  • Flood fountain...

We had a flash flood today - ten minutes after the heavy rain began, the streets were swimming, but it was all gone again half an hour after the sun came out again, 20 minutes later.

The weird thing is that the really flooded section just before the bridge, is some 15 feet above the Grand Union Canal

The bridge is actually over the canal.

same problem here. Took two hours to do usual 25min journey. When I got home access to where I live was gone. This is the reason why.

OMG that must be frightening when you're caught up in it!

We had some torrential downpours this moring but nothing quite like any of that. I'd been moaning about going stir-crazy 'cos we can't get out atm but maybe I should be glad to be stuck here in the house where it's comfortable and dry.

pictures from Wokingham berkshire. The road to the top of the estate was completely flooded. We have an emergancy raod / footpath. The police removed all the barriers to allow 1 car through at a time. Lots of houses effected I really felt for them as they returned home from work to find water!

We are at the top of the hill so far so good.

            Best Regards

I was born in Wokingham although it has changed a lot since then
My parents are still in Finchampstead perhaps I should ring

yep, we're all fine thanks. Wokingham got jammed up pretty solid this evening. The water is beginning to go and providing we have no more rain it should be gone by Sunday.

My mother in law was coming down to see us (and baby sit) from Manchester. She got stuck on the M40 for 4 hours. We told her to take the next junction and go home.

Blimey we used to be a nation of explorers, now, snow, rain and sometimes leaves halt us in our tracks

                  Best Regards
