  • Grand old Master.

Hi all, this image was taken yesterday, as the ship made its way up river to berth. More information can be given later.

    Hi Tinka,

Nice capture! Where was this captured? I love old ships actually sailing. If I may say, I'd like to see the horizon level though.

    Thanks for sharing.

I'd agree, and yes the flag is a nice touch
Level horizons are always a problem though esp when you have a shoreline running away from you like here.
I reckon some extra sharpening might be needed too

        So whats the story Tinka?

Masts look vertical , so i guess it's perspective more than a sloping horizon as Stephen says .
Sticking my neck out a bit , but is that the Blackwater leading into Maldon?.
          Nice Capture BTW .

Ah, well now you mention it, I reckon they are 1.5-2 degrees out. However I somehow didn't expect them to be vertical on a ship such as this

              Re: Grand old Master.

              Ok all,
This is the Earl of penbroke, she was comeing in to Kings Lynn in Norfolk up the river Great Ooze to celebrate the 250th aniversary of the birth of Captain vancouver, and formed part of the celebrations. She is a three masted barque built in the 1940s in Sweeden (spelling?) and is built to the exact specifications of a 1700 design. She is sailed by a crew 0f twelve, including the skipper(Captain) and first mate. Will compile the exact spec later and post.
