Just this past weekend, I came across these two at the World of Birds in Hout Bay (Yes I am aware that they're not birds). I work for a cellular company - Vodacom - and they have successfully used an animated meerkat called Mo in their marketing campaigns. Mo has recently found love in the form of Moisha. It was interesting to hear all the children refer to the meerkats as Mo's - the power of advertising.

Isn't it amazing how they use animals in advertizing! The greatest ones I recall are the BMW ad with the mouse on the steering wheel & The elephants walking over the sand dunes, trunks over each other, whilst...He ain't heavy, he's my brother song playing! The Hedgehogs with gasmasks on, watching some car go past...was it a Merc ad...can't remember, but I never ever saw a hedgehog in S.A.( Had them as pets in Kenya) Zebra's for the Zeebie Can...clean up dustbin thing! Mazda or Ford with the White Rhino running along through the bush! I guess animals are a Universal attention getter & appeal! Optus here in Oz (like Vodacom in SA) use mainly African animals in their ads...like a lion that walks down the street & talks to people & other animals!JocelynComment
