I'm not sure what I was trying to do but the original was so washed out i created 2 layers in raw then overlayed them and hey presto I quite like the result

I love the result! Also thought it looked 'old worldly' sepia type or is it split tone?
There are so many beautiful fishing villages in Cornwall & Devon. Have you ever been to Down along Up Along...forget what its proper name is! On the border of Devon...an amazing little place for pics. Built on a steep cliff, with no cars in the village....flower boxes in the windows...huge cobbles on the beach & a waterfall! Brixham Harbour was another favourite of mine....& riding on the steam train from Paignton Weir to Brixham was amazing!

          Ah......THAT St Ives

Saw the heading in the forum and, as I come from the other one I had to have a look. Agree with Stephen, really does look like an old postcard. Lovely shot.

And Jocelyn - think you're talking about Up Along, Clovelly - http://www.northdevongazette.co.uk/n...scene/a39.aspx

And finally, just for comparison, this is a shot of my St Ives

Very much a postcard effect. Colouring just right. Just wants a couple of bathers on the beach dressed in 1920's swim suits

Aah yes, absolutely correct...it was Clovelly...just couldn't remember the name! Spring & Summer pics there great, but last time I went there it was extremely hazy, could hardly see the harbour! I also correct myself re the steam train ride....it went to Dartmouth, not Brixham! However I did prefer Brixham Harbour visit. The surrounds of Exeter & all the little villages around there are brilliant, with so many, many things that inspire one to create! My sister lives in a little village that abutts the moor & when I've visited, I've stayed 2 or 3 months (a number of times) as its my favourite part of the UK

                  Hi Mike,

Indeed looks like an old postcard.
I do like the toning effect as I think it matches with the hazy/overcast atmosphere.
