I don't know what exactly you mean by "disturbing" or "thought provoking".
I assume that you mean of how the photo looks itself with the situation between these two guys.

The next series of photos might probably be in the next few days, but if not for sure after Easter

Your absolutely right, a scene that I have seen on many a Friday night out down the local pubs!

When I say it is 'disturbing' and 'thought provoking' its disturbing in as much that all the other photos you posted were of happy scenes, children on bikes etc. Then we come accross this chap who looks to have upset someone in some form, and it appears that an ugly scene is about to ensue!

THought provoking in as much as the viewer is left wondering as to what happened to cause this, and indeed what happened after!

I think its a great capture, would have liked to have seen another shot taken about 20seconds after this one though! hehe!

      Ben,

I've got another shot of the same scene with slightly different face expression, but it is pretty much similar to the one I posted.
In terms of the rest of the shots, indeed that is different, but also rare to capture faces' expressions like this and that is the reason I include it in the set of photos.

I got some new shots today, though they are not street photos this time but some are really nice and I will post some sometime this weekend.

haflzware, I hope you don't mind but I've edited out the links to the images as it makes it easier to read your comments - otherwise your comments can be overwhelmed and 'lost' benlow the series of repeated images.

BTW - I must admit I prefer to see more of the surrounding environment in street shots, something to put the subject in context so in one sense I suppose I tend to agree these are not of my own preferred style of street shots.

I'm not so sure I'd agree they're for the trash can though.

Thank you Pol for the links,it will not happen again.

Anyway,I'm not saying that their are bad pic's,but that they are bad street photographs.I myself, like you, prefer to see the urban environment more,so the picture may have a start and an ending.

Just my opinion, thank you again Pol!

How about posting some of your own pics so that we can see what you term as 'artistic' keepers! I feel constructive criticism is far more productive than negativity in life! Just my opinion Zware helft!

I'm not a talanted photographer, but i have eyes and can tell a good photo from a bad one. If you really want to see some top street photo's check out Garry Winogrand,I'm sure you have heard of him.

I think you've summed it up very neatly there.

I'm a fan of the work of the likes of John Bownlow so I suppose he's the person who influenced my own attempts at 'street'. I certainly can't and don't claim to be good at it but I try to summon up the confidence as and when I can manage it. I'm not as mobile as I'd like to be either (back injury) so I'm usually quite pleased if I can get maybe 2-3 keeps after a 'street' shoot outing.

Here's a link of showing some of John Brownlow's work - though I
imagine you may already have it.

Tell me, as a Greek, whats your opinion of the work of Yannis Behrakis? I was directed to his site some time ago.

...... and here are 3 of my own fairly recent efforts. Not wonderful but the best I managed to get - I was trying out a new camera at the time.

                          Thanks.

As a matter of fact it was one of the shots that had been assigned to be binned. I decided to 'rescue' the shot with those tones .. otherwise the profile of her face was kinda lost against the white text of the 'Sale' notice in the shop window.

Hi Halfzware1 and welcome to the DPNow forum.

We try to conduct a friendly forum here and of course we welcome frank opinion but it should be balanced and so you should expect responses to balance things up.

It's perfectly fair for you to express your opinion that the pictures you are referring to are not 'street' photography' but those little magic words 'in my opinion' somehow managed to get lost in your enthusiasm to make your opinion known. Opinion is a pillar of free society, but it can also represent a small minority!

There is also a great range of talent, from basic to accomplished, exhibited in the photos you see on the forum and the galleries. But please don't knock the ones that don't reach your esteemed standards. I'm sure Ansel Adams, David Bailey and any other star photographer you care to name started by producing less than brilliant images. Many people here are keen to help and encourage and as long as people try their best, and that's fine by me.

Out of interest, and in words, in what way do you think these are bad photographs.

I personally thought they were very interesting!

Surely any photography of people in a street would be classed as street photography would it not?

I think you have been a little harsh here, and it would be good if you clarify a little more.
