  • The Performer

This is a crop from a sequence of a kite surfer who was performing all sorts of acrobatics and generally showing off. He apparently forgot to ensure his clothing was comfortable.

The moral of this story is - make sure there isn't anyone watching through a long lenses if you wanna adjust yer tackle mid flight.

It was shot from a very long way back with the Tamron 28-300 at full stretch. One of those days when I was kicking myself for not taking the 170-500mm.

I missed an even better shot later when one of his mates came back to the car park to get out of his wet suit and swimmers to get dressed. He hadn't secured the towel around his waist, it was a cold, wet and windy day, the towel fell off and guess what I saw. Wahey!!

Another time I'll be sure not to put the camera back in the bag until after we've left the carpark.

Here's a resized copy of the full frame, exif included. I estimate I was approximately 200-300 yds back, standing just a few feet in front of the camper in an elevated position on a small dune..

He'd just attempted a somersault (of sorts) then grabbed the kite with one hand and used his other hand to pat his tackle back into place.

I'd been too far away for good shots and hadn't even noticed what he was doing with his hands, nor his daft clothing. I only noticed the details after I got home and d/l the shots.

I have the next one actually. It shows his hand being raised to grab the kite. the hand also hides his face so it's nothing special.

I just wish I'd still been holding the camera when his mate revealed all after his towel blew away in the car park.
