It was my granddaughter's 4th birthday yesterday and here she is with her friend Bobby - this one made me smile because he looked like Woody out of Toy Story . Only another 65 pics to process

This is truly delightful, colourful, joyful, funny and utterly charming!

I reckon they don't come much better than that - the picture is (almost) as perfect as they are!

Thanks for the kind words Pol, there's a few more of my favourites from the day in my gallery. Mostly taken of the kids queueing for the face painter (who didn't stop all afternoon and had the patience of a saint!).

They all look a bit serious but I reckon they were weighing-up whether to stay in the queue or go and play with the rest of the kids

Not sure about the mono shot, just trying to rescue a shot that had a few technical problems!

These are all such a joy to see.

It's pics like these that make me wish one of our lot would get on with it and present us with some grandchildren.

            Superb!

They look super Stuart, I really like the mono shot, although, it looks like you have over done it a little with the diffuse glow on the face.

Heh, more likely due to the pic being slightly out-of-focus, suffering from motion blur and the fact that I'd left the ISO on 1600 following my previous shoot (the lunar eclipse - I failed miserably). I took a number of shots on the high ISO setting before I twigged it and the colours all seem a bit washed out and the highlights blown.

There was bright daylight coming from windows on the left and I think (have to check the EXIF) I had the flash on (bounced with a stofen diffuser) which probably gave the catch-lights in the eyes. I might try another version in colour but the background was a fluorescent green & blue bouncy castle
