Well this time I signed in and this gave me better access to the track. I hope these are better than the normal ones I post as I used different parts of the track that I have not been to before. Also This is the first real test of the new camera. I like to think I came away with more keepers then normal. One other thing I would like to thank Stephen who has given me a lot of help behind the scenes with the camera.
You are right Peter, these shots are better, infact some belters I'd say. Great action shots IMHO. Did you shoot on the hi speed setting? Were they shot in jpeg? Was there any post processing done apart from resizing?
They were shot mostly in tv mode, shutter speed 160- 200. AI servo mode, high speed and in raw. When trying to convert the raw file I am not always sure I get it right. I guess there is a proper way of doing it. I think its time to get a good book any recommendations. I have shot so many single bikes before I was hoping to get a better sense of speed with two or more bikes in shot and think this has worked out well.
These are very good, Peter. I particularly like the second one, with the two riders at very contrasting angles. So the 1D is working well for you? Have you developed new muscles yet?

By the way, which lens did you use ?
Ian
Yes I like to think I am getting to grips with it now . No no new muscles yet but I did almost fall asleep when I came home . I used my sigma 70-200 lens. I did take my new sigma 28-60mm lens but just did not use it.

I'd agree with you. Not sure there is any need for a book. What software are you using to convert your Raw files. I think a slight adjustment to contrast is all that's needed in a couple, but generally they are OK
I have been playing around with lightroom but I do not think that I will buy it. I have also been using CS2 and its built in raw converter. I guess I should just stick to one and that will now be CS2. Having said that I did like using lightroom and may have to think about that one . One thing I must ask is how do you convert your raw files ie is it one at a time or do you batch them. Also do you use any sort of photoshop actions. Sorry I guess that was two things .

I have tried not to push the contrast to far as I guess its all to easy to go over the top but I can see that they could have done with a bit more,

I too have been using Lightroom, and I thinkImay well buy it. Generally speaking, I tend to select all the files I want to adjust by flagging or starring them, then adjust each one to suit before batch processing them in one go. Any adjustment you make before the process is remembered so they are applied in the batch. Saves a load of time over processing them individually.
In CS2 select the ones you want to process, then Ctrl R brings them all up in ACR. You can then adjust each one individually, before selecting all and doing a bach process to your folder of choice. In Lightroom of course its a case of using Develop to make your adjustments, then selecting the files and going to Export etc. back in the library page
