  • Early morning greeting from a grey heron!

It was such a delight to be greeted by this grey heron perched on a neighbour's roof at the bottom of our garden the other morning, before the sun had fully risen.

I consider these 'grab' shots! I wasn't ready at all; the camera didn't have the right settings and I was using a big 3kg telephoto, hand held, through the kitchen window which was well overdue for a clean, notwithstanding raindrops on the glass as well

Whether you were prepared or not. Whether you had the correct settings or not.

It is always worth taking the shot, as you have proved here.

I have done this in the past, and although they didn't produce the perfect image. They did provide a very good visual record of the sighting.

I think Garry's said it all - It's always worth going for it.
