  • To crop or not?

Which of these two versions do you prefer, the crop or the original composition?

    Re: To crop or not?

For me personally, I prefer the crop. I like the composition of the first image, but the background is just so highly coloured and bright that I think the crop works better

I've used the cropped version on Instagram in light of your comment, Caz

        Re: To crop or not?

Had the background given the viewers information about where or what the subject was doing, then it would need to rerain. In this case the background servers no purpose at all and distracts the viewers eye from the main subject. Removing it by cropping has improved the image ten fold.

Thank you - and I think Rod actually put it better than I did. Will look you up on Insta; I have 2 accounts: one for weddings and general, and the other for music. They don't really mix!

To be honest. I like the original version.

Having read Caz's and Ron's valid comments.
I understand their reasoning, and agree with them.

I think technically the crop is correct.

But I still like the original

I'm with you, Garry, I like the original but certainly for Instagram the cropped version is probably a bit more relevant.

I love feedback like all the comments on this thread

                Thanks to everyone!

Apologies for the late reply - just surfacing from a couple of weeks of intense activity (4 day festival then a large gig).

I actually have two instagram accounts, one for my personal stuff that includes weddings, and one for the music stuff although they can overlap at times.
