Looking through Barrie's excellent canal pictures, I thought it was time to share some of my local canal: the Oxford, which runs alongside the town centre and in part between the shopping centre and the car parks.
The first was taken a week or so ago: it was too cold to stay long, and I "saw" this in black and white

Going back a day later, it was totally different: about 5 degrees C warmer, for a start off, although I thought the brave souls sitting outside the museum care were a little foolhardy

We've also managed to retain the boatyard - when the shopping centre was built there was a public outcry when the local authority said that it would have to close.

And climbing above the canal and looking back either side of the road bridge crossing it:

Unfortunately I don't get time during my lunch hour to get away from the town centre, so the only birds I see are swans and ducks - very jealous of Barrie and his kingfishers and herons!
