  • Arc de Triomphe - Paris

Just returned from a few days in Paris where we met up with some friends who had flown in from Australia. They will obviously get the better weather as they are touring the south of France, Italy and Malta.
Anne and I arrived a few days before them and enjoyed sunny times on our first day and then suffered very wet weather coupled with storms. However, we enjoyed our trip very much, and we wish them a safe journey home back to Oz.

Here is a pic taken early on when the weather was kind.

    Olympus OM D EM 1 + Olympus 9-18 lens - A.mode - f.5 - iso 200 - a lucky break with the traffic.

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the top tourist attractions in Paris. Check out our site on what to look for, it''s history and the best way to get a free...

Lovely images. I particularly like the Arc, which looks very quiet! It's usually heaving whenever I visit.

Were you over for the floods Barrie?

        Hi Caz -

So pleasing to see you popping in again and good to see you have updated your machine.

Thanks for your comments - a lucky moment at the Arc but I have some pix with lots and they look pretty decent if you like traffic.

We arrived in dry conditions, however from the following day on it became very wet. Anne's friends who we met up with who came in from Oz got very wet one evening.

We were fortunate though leaving France as we got the last Eurostar out of Paris - due to a bomb scare all further traffic was aborted for the day (a brit tried to smuggle a replica second world war bomb).

Anyhow, we covered lots and enjoyed an all too brief stay, so much to see.

One taken the afternoon we arrived - blue skies.

That's also really lovely. We were last in Paris 2 years ago for a long weekend as a present for the most recent "significant" birthday and Paris was almost midway between where my two offspring were living at the time (Strasbourg and Tours).

At that time (May) it was so busy that I concentrated on detail shots! and ditto round by the Louvre.
