  • Kingfisher - Heron

Anne and I started off after the heavy rains passed over. Although conditions were rather wet underfoot the morning started well. A kingfisher flew past us at great speed and we were disappointed we had missed it. We spotted red kite in the distance along with cormorants and many more.

The sun came out and warmed us along with the animals who then relaxed which made taking photographs of them that much easier.

We had a two part journey the first going in a north west direction followed by pizza and our return in the opposite direction. Half way through the first section we spotted a kingfisher digesting and were amazed she didn't fly off as we were fairly close. Our return section was quite fun we watched a heron get close up to a seagull with possibly tea in mind. When the seagull flew off the heron allowed me to get as close as 3 metres - I backed off of course.

So: Which one of you two has the best eye for spotting these subjects.

I recently went around a bird sanctuary with a chap who was spotting things, all the time.
I only saw them once he pointed them out.

      Hi Graham -

We are both fairly good at spotting what is about except I get distracted somewhat. I suppose Hawkeye is the better of the two of us.
We were chatting with a bird watcher yesterday who had seen far more than us.

Ron aka Olybirder over on e-group.net is the star methinks with the birds.
