Re: Concentration
For only the second time ever I saw a kingfisher on the (same, Grand Union canal - I am assuming) canal and it was just near the bridge at Durrant's Hill Road. The problem was - I was on the way back from the shops and was laden with shopping and I didn't have a 'proper' camera on me. In any case the little turquoise speck was not hanging around

Our walks along the canal are mainly a sort of fitness regime. The wildlife is a bonus. We would like to walk about twenty + miles a week. We may only see one of the kingfishers, say every third walk, taking a picture of them is another matter. My problem is changing the lens quickly enough although the 40 - 150 lens seems to fit the bill.
Walking is good for me - it helps slow down the ever expanding waistline and makes me sleep!

Re: Concentration
Thanks Barr1e - walking is also a therapy for me as I have had to radically increase my physical activity since Type 2 diabetes diagnosis around this time last year. It has become quite addictive and two weeks ago my phone pedometer app reported I had walked 50.1 miles over 7 daysOriginally posted by Barr1e View PostHi Ian -

The section of Grand Union Canal closer to your neck of the woods is probably more attractive to the shy kingfishers than the section that runs through Hemel Hempstead, but they do pass this way occasionally.
