  • Water Rail fest!

My local patch is well known for it's abundance of Water Rails but many do not see them, only hear their grunts and squeals. Having frequented the location for seven years now I know exactly when and where to see them so I am always confident in finding the odd one or two of these secretive, skulking birds. Today I saw seven in one area and four at the same time so please excuse me for posting so many images.

This is about all most see of a Water Rail as it runs off squealing:

A species I've never got on film or digital. The swimming shot is different.
Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it. Terry Pratchett.

Just take it easy. There's always tomorrow. And if tomorrow doesn't come, you won't have wasted any effort on it.

Amazing what you can achieve with a bit of knowledge of the subject!
