  • Flash for birds on grey days

As a lot of my smaller birds are usually deep in reed beds I always have a problem in bad light, even with the 7DII. Today, a very grey day, one of my regular Chiffchaffs was deep in a channel amongst reeds but close enough to try in-body flash. The main problem is "Blue" eye where the tapetum reflects the blue light of the flash. Of course the LR Red-eye facility doesn't work on a blue eye but a bit of cloning in Snapheal does the job I hope. Do you think it's worked?

As well as aiding the overall exposure of the bird, it's a very good way of getting the catch light in the eye, that many camera club judges seem to insist makes a good bird shot.
