As is my want I often photograph birds at some distance for record or ID purposes, and in this situation I was keen to see what advantages the 7DII would give me over the previous model. These Red-breasted Mergansers, large and agile fish eating Sawbill Ducks, were at least 120 metres offshore in Northumbria and engaged in much hectic confrontational activity. I think the results are pretty satisfying considering the distance and late afternoon light. With EF400mm f5.6L.

These are all from the RAWs converted in DPP with levels adjusted and a little sharpening in Snapheal.
