Thanks for the info Pol. By your standards I'm way down the ladder. I only use Picasa 3 and I have a basic routine I follow. I crop as required, adjust brightness if need be and add a touch of sharpening. Some times I add a boarder. That's it for me now days. That's why the Images I post are sometimes substandard. Going to have to pull my socks up if I continue posting on here.

Don't be so daft! There's nothing wrong with your images and your processing is fine too! David uses Picasa and he doesn't even know which version. I just asked him and he said "I think it's 3 - typical David!

I've given him LR, given him the chance to share my PS versions down the years, offered to share my Elements 11 with him too but he won't bother even installing and trying them - he just sticks with Picasa and does more or less the same as you - maybe crop, adjust brightness if he feels like it and possibly a touch of sharpening and that's it.

This forum is the same as any other for posting pics. Don't be put off by thinking we're all a stuffy bunch of nit-pickers. We're all just a bunch of picci shooters, some professional but not that many pros and those who are are helpful rather than critical.

Aww c'mon Shoppy, don't naff off thinking you're not up-to-scratch (reference to yer spots not intended ... honest injun).

Heck - I'm gonna upload Gert's picci of Nellie. Hang about and I'll upload it - just been doing a 7x5 for Photobox so he can pin her on his wall.

Here she is, 'Nellie' the postie.

The story here is that he shot it through a double-glazed window with broken seals so the window is permanently clouded. I had to do an approximate 75% crop because the right side and bottom were damaged by the mucky glass and and blurred plant along the bottom.

I corrected the contrast by choosing 'strong contrast' as that's what David chose. That and auto levels 'cleared' the cloudy double glazing a perked up the colours. I did it for him because he cba straightening and cropping and he *never* bothers preparing an image for a commercial print though he wanted on of Nellie ...should I be worried? Naah she welcome.

So y'see, it's about fun, fun shots and enjoying your kit, you pics and your life in general. You have no idea just how much fun you've brought into this house just by sharing you shots and introducing us to your new camera.

Now meet Nellie- she's about half way down the hill turning the corner as she comes towards our house.

You are making me feel very embarrassed saying things like that. Truth is Pol when you get old you get damn lazy with it. I know I could and should do better.

Now what's wrong with wanting a postie for a pin up Mind you I'm sure I would not want to look at them there knees. Nice photo though.

Well I'm glad I've cheered you both up and inspired you to play with the FZ200. I'm sure you will get many more hours of fun from it and I will look in here to see how it's going. Have to play catch up now on my own forum, so bye for now, talk again soon.

Getting old and lazy ... tell me about it!

You really have cheered us up and booted us out of the doldrums and I'm very grateful you did so. David has promised to have a closer look at Adobe Elements and maybe do some videos too as Elements has 'Premiere' which is a video editor.

It'll probably be another cold, damp and dull winter so he/we may as well set about doing something a bit more constructive and intellectually challenging instead of going stir-crazy indoors watching and listening for Nellie.

I might start another challenge here soon, I'm thinking about it and trying to decide on something that anyone can enjoy without feeling the need to be out and about getting cold and wet, stiff and aching ... or without feeling they need to post something fantastic and imnpressive. Just summick for a bit of interest and fun ... the sort of fun and banter stuff we used to be enjoy before we got booted out of the green place.

Keep popping in and look after yourself properly and give yourself time to recover (as 'Levan' keeps trying to get through to me).

Had an hour to spare last evening so went down the road to see what was about. Found these two Girls, sisters, riding their ponies in the farm field opposite the entrance to our retirement park. Was very enjoyable to watch and take snaps of. Also had a chat to their Dad and assured him my intentions were all good. Why are those with a camera also a terrorist or paedophile?

As for people being suspicious of folk with a camera - they need to catch up with the times! Peeps are everywhere with smartphones that have cameras!

Have some new pills for my complaint and they seem to be working. Hope to be back in action in the next few days.

Yeah you can be quite scarey, especially when you're going at top speed on that scooter.

Hey Shoppy, have you tried using the panorama feature on the FZ200?

I gave it a try today and couldn't believe how easy it is to use! You just choose the direction you want to go and pan as you hold down the shutter! The camera does it all for you! It's a brilliant feature! It's a pity I wasn't somewhere more interesting to try it out but here's what I got anyway, just a few seconds and it was all done.




Geez this camera is such great fun!
