What does western limb mean? I see sun spots on the eastern side of the sun.

I'm assuming that 'east' and 'west' is expressed from the Sun's point of view, rather than ours. That seems to be the convention from this site anyway (check 2nd article).

I take it I should be on the look out for the aurora borealis for the next few nights.
