Re: Reeeeeeealy Fast Bike
I've driven a few runs at Santa Pod myself - really! It was a long time ago but they used to do 'Run what you Brung' days where you could line up with someone else totally at random and do the quarter mile and get the time printed and given to you. I did three runs in my then Rover 827 Vitesse. On one run I was next to a real hotrod (one of those vintage-style 'funny car' shells hiding a monster V8 ). That thing had finished the run before I had reached 100yards! I also got embarrassed by a friend in a Fiesta XR-2 - I had loads too much wheelspin

Re: Reeeeeeealy Fast Bike
I think they still do the 'run what ya brung' Ian, sounds good fun, if I still had my celica I would have a bash at that, like you say against a built for the job dragster you have no chance beating them although would be interesting to get a time down.
What was really scary was the rocket dragsters, the power to weight ratio is immense, I have a hd video took on the d600 with sigma 70-200, this thing did a run in 6.5 sec and was doing 240mph as it crossed the quarter mile
We was quite close to the track and the autofocus just could not keep up on the video especially with the long lens.
I will post a couple more shots up soon

Re: Reeeeeeealy Fast Bike
I think my time was about 16 seconds and was doing over 80mph at the quarter mile
There is an old video tape somewhere from the day... was probably back in 1990.

Re: Reeeeeeealy Fast Bike
The nice bit about the Rover was its 2.7 litre Honda V6
