Great shot - aerodynamics 1930s style!

That's where the line had to be rebuilt after the winter floods and storms, isn't it?

      Hi Gez -

What a beautiful engine, pity so few remain.
These A4 class steam locomotives still seem so modern today in looks. I have the complete set of DVD's 'Glory Days Of Steam' and these engines all feature.

You captured her very well - great pic, thanks.

      Regards. Barr1e

It's good to see the line opened again, they did a great job and in excellent time too!

Are the houses alongside the line also being shored up and repaired or are they being demolished?

I think the houses will be repaired, but at the moment they are concentrating on the sea wall. The repaired rail track only allows one train through at a time while the work continues.

Good news that they're going to repair the houses as it must've been a very bad time for the residents.

The workers really did a brilliant job repairing that railway line and sea wall and in such record time too! I can appreciate why there's only one train allowed through at any one time.

We had a series of landslides on the Tunbridge Wells/Hastings line and it took 3 months before it eventually reopened ... still some delays and engineering work going on too. It was a nightmare for commuters as the bus replacement service took 2-3 hours compared to the usual 40 minute rail journey. That line had also collapsed in several places and it kept moving and collapsing again as they tried to repair and stabilise it.

Not as dramatic as what happened at Dawlish but nevertheless bad enough.

A line linking East Sussex, Kent and London reopens fully for the first time this year the day a rail summit is held in Hastings.

                Nice shot Gez.

The last time I photographed The Sir Nigel Gresley at Bridgenorth in 2009 it's livery was blue and black, not so keen on the green livery.
                Regards Paul.
