Those thrushes are very rare now - haven't seen one in my garden for a long time

Re: Garden vistors
Very nice. I like the blue tit with the nut in its mouth.
Yes, I agree, I am sure spring is here in Worksop. Two days ago I heard the morning chorus just before 6 am - a beautiful sound and made me think that we were on our way to Spring.
We have heard a lot about the bad weather and people with floods. I can only imagine, thank goodness, how bad that can be. We have had our mildest Winter for years - just East of the Pennines. Only about three mild frosts. Of course we had the high winds last week and quite a bit of rain, but on the whole a mild winter with no snow and today the sun in shining and sky is blue and I'm going to get breakfast now.

Re: Garden vistors
I am only a few miles below you Autumn and I agree that we have been very lucky indeed with the weather. We often wondered how we would have coped with the extreme weather that other parts of the country have endured, not very well I think.-------------------------

Nice picci of the Thrush. We have one that has a stand off with one specific Blackbird every day ... a stand off at one of the ground feeding trays.Originally posted by Pops View PostI am only a few miles below you Autumn and I agree that we have been very lucky indeed with the weather. As for the Winter weather - it's been horrendous and it isn't over yet, though the past few days have been calmer and with a bit more sunlight and less rain. I've never known anything like it, easily as memorable as the 1987 hurricane but lasting for weeks on end rather than just 24 (like the hurricane).
We're exhausted with it all, garden totally sodden, floods just up the road, trees down all over the place and so many landslips on the railway lines resulting in chaos and bus replacement services for commuters.
I've stopped thinking about the heating bills too! Not much frost but very cold with the stormy winds and endless pounding rain.
