Sick of being indoors, playing Monopoly with cheating grandchildren and eating too many mince pies I decided that I had to get out somewhere. So in driving rain and at least force 7 winds I struggled from my car on a muddy lane to a damp windy hide overlooking a freshwater scrape. Plenty of wildfowl hunkering down and a few little-uns around some bird feeders. The light was appalling and some of the birds on the water at too great a distance for the conditions but I was there so I had to take a few shots. Small birds with the 75-300mm, wildfowl and Woody with Canon EF400mm f5.6L and 1.4x:
