Complete change of conditions this time with the sun far too bright creating too much contrast between the shadow beneath the wings and the body. In addition the very few birds were a long way off above the refuse tip with no public access to get closer. The birds were less than 10% of the frame area which was a challenge as far as AF was concerned, but using S-AF and Single target rectangle magnified to only 5x gave me enough area to cover the birds. These shots are all around 100% crop and have had some reduction in contrast, sharpening and NR applied. One day I will get the right lighting conditions with the birds flying closer to me, I think the cold winter weather will bring more in and make them less wary.
