  • How close is too close?

    The distance that this Reed Bunting chose to alight from me and the 400mm lens on the E-M1, I couldn't move back for alarming the bird so I just had to be content with less than the full bird. The strange colour is because this was taken as the sun was about to set.



    E-M1 plus Canon 400mm f5.6 L - MF

    Often, I like Animal Portraiture more than "Natural History" shots. This one really has got its eye on you...

    Get rid of the stick in the top left, the red blur and you will have a good portrait, maybe even crop in a bit more.

    It always impresses me that birds fly in onto branches with these great big spikes on and never hurt themselves.
