I took Beth out for a quick shoot around some hay-bales this afternoon and this is what we came up with. First real time out with Beth but you may have seen her before when I have shot the Tol Galen earlier in the year. I hope it will not the last. Oh and a few more in colour can be seen on my flickr page.
I'm gonna have to admit I prefer the colour versions. I just love her outfit and the colours she's wearing because they blend in so well with her own complexion and the hay bales .. all so beautiful and 'earthy' if that's the right word.
The first b/w one you posted here is probably the one I like best but I still just have to admit I love the colour versions.
So 'pure' and 'fresh' and with that gorgeous smell of fresh hay bales in the air. Very nice series - nice idea, model and colours.

Thanks Pol
I was going for the drama that I thought was more in the b/w then the colour versions. She had talked about the outfit well before we did the shot and told me about it but I had not seen it till the day and like you I love how it tied in with the whole idea of the shoot. Here is one more colour one just for you .

That's the one, my favourite colour shot! Absolutely beautiful. Pure and fresh but also with lots drama and mystery going on to create your own story in the scene.
Excellent idea and very well executed by the pair of you imho. The sky and the lighting also got in on the act - altogether a super shoot.
Did you ride home together across the praire in a covered wagon?

lol I am only a stone's throw away from the beach on one side and one of our main coast roads on the other so no praire to be seen. I did have to drop her off back to the Larp event she was doing when I picked her up but that was only fair enough for her giving up the time to help me.

That sounds like my idea of heaven! I grew up about a mile from and within sight of the sea and there was also farm opposite with their fields on 3 sides of our family home. My bedroom overlooked the cornfield and the farmer used to allow my friend and me to climb on top of his large haystack for picnics. He was patient and tolerant to a fault.
Your series with Beth reminded me of those childhood days in and around the farm.
One of the joys of living on a small Island you are never far from the sea
That's right, rub it in.
I grew up right on the Northumbrian coast. I also went to a school with just a field between the school and miles of quiet, sandy beach. We used to do cross country runs along the beach for PE. I miss those days and those beaches but we had to live where David's work took us so that was that!
