  • Leaf Cutter Bee ( Solitary Bee )

Leaf cutter checking out a home. The female lays eggs, along with food, and then seals them into the bamboos at the end of the season.

The new bees hatch and live as larvae, feeding on the pollen left for food.

Edited for correction of life cycle

We have had an insect house on one of our tree trunks for two years now. Never seen anything in it. We get loads of honey bees nesting in our garage roof and under our home. They use the air vents continuously. Hornet wasps also seem to like where we live.
Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. One day you will be right. Down sized to Nikon s7000 compact camera.

I don't mind Bee's making homes around my home. But wasps and Hornets ? As much as Hornets fascinate me. I would rather not have them nest in the roof.

        Watch out for them, Ron.

One year, all the bamboo insect homes were taken up by these Bee's. Then didn't come back for a few years, and are back now. If they do start taking leaves back to create their dwelling. I will photograph their progress.

            That would be most interesting.

              Follow up on the activities......……...…..

Two of the bamboo homes have been taken.

They were so fast, that I didn't see the bees sealing the tubes. I am informed that there would be 1 - 20 eggs inside

              Tube sealed...……..

Second tube sealed, and bee looking to use a third.
