  • Sunshine at Apsley Lock with the G6

It's been incredibly grey and dull - even dark in the middle of the day - here in Hemel Hempstead over the last couple of days. But this evening at about 5.30 the sun emerged for about an hour and so out I went with a Lumix G6 at the ready - here's a small selection of shots (all from in-camera JPEGs and with minimal post processing):

Meet John - he has two big Alsatians but he's actually a cat breeder in his retirement. G6 with 14-42mm kit lens @18mm, f/5.6, 1/1000th, ISO 160

    A very handsome pooch! G6 with Olympus m.Zuiko 75mm f/1.8, @f/3.2, 1/2500th, ISO 160

The lock near the Apsley Marina on the Grand Union Canal. G6 with Lumix 100-300mm @108mm, f/5.6, 1/320th, ISO 400

Graffiti on one of the footbridges over the Grand Union Canal in Apsley. G6 with Lumix 100-300mm @100mm, f/6.3, 1/640th, ISO 800

    Mrs duck has a scratch! G6 with Lumix 100-300mm @300mm, f/6.3, 1/500th, ISO 800

Nice performance, great colours and all of them good and crisp.

I love that second picci of the dog and I also envy your ability to find and capture quackers scratching themselves!

Mrs Quackers got out of the canal after her swim and proceeded to have a scratch, allowing me to get quite close - about 12 feet?

Mr Quackers joined her a few minutes later but declined to have a scratch.

Well done for catching the fleeting sunlight!

Love the series, particularly the big pooch and Mrs duck. The one thing I don't like about working in Towcester is the lack of places to walk and shoot during my lunch hour, and even the archaeological dig isn't looking too interesting at the moment: it keeps flooding (and they're going to build council offices on there!)
