I heard a commotion in the woods while walking the dog yesterday and after standing and looking for what seemed like an age I spotted this pretty bird high in the trees attracting the attention of a lot of song birds.
I saw it from the back first and initially thought it was a buzzard; I didn't realise Tawny Owls were that big! Anyway it wasn't bothered by me or the dog and I was able to scramble through the undergrowth to get this shot:
I completely lost the sky and this has been cropped and processed within an inch of its life.
I also spotted this colourful chaffy by the side of the river:
