As I think I have mentioned before - collared doves are very recent dwellers in the UK with hardly any before the 1940s. They have spread from eastern Europe over the last 100 years or so.
They are a bit daft

If I remember correctly the first record of them breeding in Cheshire was 1963.Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it. Terry Pratchett.
