Great in-flight shots! We get cormorants occasionally here and we're very far from the sea (west Herts) - I originally thought they were sea birds.

Actually saw one fishing on the river (Loire) in Saumur in France a couple of weeks ago.

Most fishermen hate them as they do attack and catch carp from our lakes. A friend of mine where I used to fish owns a seven lake fishery and he loses no-end of his stock to cormorants.

By the healthy numbers of grey heron, egrets, the occasional cormorant, kingfisher and numerous coarse fisherman, I think there's plenty of fish locally - I'm told there are a lot of chub in the Grand Union Canal near us. And the invasive American Signal Crayfish.

All part of nature balancing the books so to speak. I would love to meet the irresponsible idiot that introduced American Signal Crayfish.to our waters. So many good fishing places have been ruined by this stupid action.
