Re: Birmingham Library
It's an interesting building that blends in nicely with the blue sky, innit.
The bare tree, first picci, also adds a nice tuft of hair to the elevation and I just love the way that golden chimney pot is puffing out fluffy white clouds of cloud.
Nice shots, I love them - I really do!. Thanks for those.

I don't know - the detail looks interesting. It's a shame the basic shapes are simply rectangular, but the details look great.Originally posted by Pops View PostNothing wrong with the photographs but I really do not like that building
I will reserve judgement until I eventually see it for myself.

Re: Birmingham Library
I posted a picture on the sister 4/3 forum under Britains most Ugly building, its marginally better than the old library.Originally posted by Ian View PostI don't know - the detail looks interesting. It's a shame the basic shapes are simply rectangular, but the details look great.

Re: Birmingham Library
There's a video of the interior, as seen from 'The Rep' if you scroll down the page linked below.
Very different from the libraries we used as kids! I was gobsmacked when I discovered I could borrow LP records from the 'new' library in Newcastle but the one in Brummie looks as though its going to be a whole new experience!
I wish I was a kid again ...

Re: Birmingham Library
I think it is a very nice design, but have to say not quite as nice as our library - Worksop, which also is quite new. It stands at the side of the old library which I loved as a child. It always seemed very foreign and modern and this new one blends well.
There is also an image of the old library.
There are many computers and meeting rooms and it also encompasses the Registry Office!
Within those pictures hanging on the wall, are two of mine and one of Roy's. The Library ran a competition on "My Worksop" whereby we could enter a maximum of 4 digital images and if they were selected they printed, mounted and hung them for us. You can't see mine from this angle, but you can just see Roy's. It is bottom row, first on the left.
