All great shots David my favourites are the Chaffinch and the Pigeon your last shots with the D7 are also very good I don't see any lose of picture quality. you seem to have no limit to the variety of birds in your area thanks for showing John.

Bearing in mind that the ducks etc. were all taken from 30 metres plus and the Chiffy/Goldcrest shots were from about 5 metres then I think you will agree that the E-M5 shots are of a higher quality. The Chaffinch was also taken from about 5 metres and I think has better detail than the other two. Allowing for the fact that the 400mm obviously has a greater reach on the E-M5 I still think that the Olympus sensor works better with this lens than the Canon one. What we need is a proper m4/3 super-telephoto prime - when are the manufacturers going to wake up to this?

Lets hope they read what you have said. A varied range of zoom with a good lens make up giving high quality images would be my choice. and not costing thousands of pounds.

All up to your usual high standard but I do think the chaffinch is a bit special with amazing detail.
